The Property

Two wrap-around decks. Six acres. The whole Madison Valley in front of you.

The view is the reason to come. An upper deck that wraps the main floor for morning coffee and valley sunsets, and a lower deck off the walk-out below — both of them open to the same long Montana horizon. The house behind them is 4,000 square feet of living space — a stone fireplace, a dining table for eight, a man-cave and bar downstairs — plus another 1,500 square feet of wrap-around deck outside.

Five bedrooms, three baths, eight beds, sleeps twelve. Stone fireplace upstairs, man-cave and wet bar downstairs, two wrap-around decks tying it all together. Reunions, fishing parties, and multi-generational trips fit comfortably.

Fly fishing

The center of the fly-fishing universe.

Ennis sits at the middle of it. The Madison River runs through town, and within an hour's drive you're on any of seven blue-ribbon trout streams. More blue-ribbon water inside a one-hour radius than anywhere else in the Lower 48.

0–45 min

Madison River

The “50-Mile Riffle.” 2,900–3,500 trout per mile between Quake Lake and Ennis Lake. Guided floats from any of the shops in town; wade access up and down the valley.

45 min

Ruby River

Small, intimate tailwater and meadow stream through Alder, Sheridan, and Twin Bridges. Best fished by foot. Browns, rainbows, and a shot at solitude.

45 min

Jefferson River

Formed where the Ruby, Big Hole, and Beaverhead meet at Twin Bridges. Big browns, fewer crowds, dramatic canyon stretches.

1 hr

Gallatin River

Highway 191 water — the one from A River Runs Through It. Pocket water, classic dry-fly runs, wade-friendly all the way into Yellowstone Park.

1 hr

Big Hole River

World-class dry-fly fishing from Wisdom to Twin Bridges. Trout plus native Arctic grayling — rare in the Lower 48.

1 hr

Beaverhead River

Tailwater south of Twin Bridges. Narrow, brushy, and known for producing some of the largest trout in Montana.

1h 10m

Yellowstone River

The longest free-flowing river in the Lower 48. Cutthroat, browns, and rainbows from Gardiner to Livingston.

+ lakes

Ennis, Quake & Hebgen Lakes

Stillwater within easy reach when rivers blow out or you want a Trico morning. Ennis Lake is ten minutes away.

Outfitters pick up at the driveway. The Tackle Shop, Madison River Fishing Company, and a handful of others in Ennis will collect you, get you on the water by 9, and have you back by 4. Drift boat parking and a rod-rigging station at the house.

Why guests return

Six reasons this place books out.

The view

A 180° panorama from both wrap-around decks — the Madison Valley floor, the Madison Range, the Gravellys. Watch weather roll in from an hour out.

Seven blue-ribbon rivers

The Madison through town, the Ruby, Jefferson, Gallatin, Big Hole, Beaverhead, and Yellowstone all within an hour. More blue-ribbon water from here than anywhere in the country.

Room for everyone

Five bedrooms, eight beds, a bunk room, three full baths. A dining table for 8+, a kitchen with room to work.

Stone fireplace

The centerpiece of the main floor — floor-to-ceiling stacked stone with a driftwood mantel. Cord of firewood included.

Jetted tub & fire pit

A jetted tub in the master ensuite, a stone fire pit on the grounds, BBQ on the patio, hammock on the lower deck.

Close to everything

20 min to Big Sky skiing, 1 hour to Yellowstone's west entrance, 10 min to Ennis for dinner. Virginia City, Quake Lake, and Bozeman all an easy drive.

"The cabin is lovely and secluded while being just a short drive from downtown Ennis. We enjoyed the nearby access to multiple trailheads for a few hikes. Bob was very responsive."

Panoramic Madison Valley view in summer
The Madison Valley

One of Montana's quietest, most extraordinary stretches.

Ennis sits at the center of it — a small main street of fly shops, a grocery, a few good restaurants, and a bar or two. Yellowstone's west entrance is an hour south. Big Sky is twenty minutes the other way. The Madison River runs the whole valley, and there's public fishing access from here to Three Forks.
